Andrew Zuckerman takes immaculate pictures of birds.

I spent a lot of my early years following my brother to remote corners of Australia because a bird guide listed some rare species of finch as living in that place and that place only. My brother liked bird watching because it appealed both to his love of nature and his love of lists. I don’t remember taking too much notice of the birds but I think if I’d had a book of bird mugshots like the one Zuckerman has produced I would have been more inclined. His portraits show these creatures up close in their amazing variety – almost like caricatures of some alien species.

It’s spectacular stuff and Zuckerman’s high-key photography and high-resolution website really showcase these critters in the best light.
