Satoshi Minakawa

Some incredible landscape photography from Japanese photographer Satoshi Minakawa.

The only thing better than finding an artist like this on the ineternet is finding out there portfolio site actually has fairly hi-res versions of their work.  Satoshi’s images are as clean and vivid as the best commercial real estate photography but with an eye for compostion and colour that turns these real places into beautiful patterns.

The shots below in particular focus on man-made structures in a way that’s only possible during the night when the streets are empty and daylight isn’t there to turn everything into reflections and shadows. Long exposure night photography is really the only way to see architectural acheivements like those of Tokyo and Beijing in isolation.

You can find a great deal more of his work on his portfolio site.
