Skytree is hundreds of meters higher than any other building in metro Tokyo. the contrast is especially apparent in Sumida which is made up of mostly low-rise apartments.  The tower has an immense presence at ground level that's hard to convey in photographs. Apartment buildings in Ueno which is part of the historical Shitamachi (literally "low city") district of Tokyo, an area which was a working class area until fairly recently. Entrance to Ameya Yokocho (roughly translated 'candy store alley') in Ueno in Tokyo.  So named because of all the candy stores that lined the street in the early post-war era when sugar was hard to come by. Customers browsing the stalls for fresh seafood at the Tsukiji fish market.
